Our mission is to foster a competitive environment that enables multiple vendors to supply the transit industry with products, services and applications that can be combined at any time, in a single system to best serve the needs of each transit operator and its customers.

The Coalition for Smart Competition (CSC) is committed to:

Supporting free and open competition in all procurements;
Competing on features, functions and value but not on restricting an agency’s freedom to choose;
Empowering transit agencies to:

choose vendors on a procurement-by-procurement basis regardless of previous choices,
benefit from the cost savings resulting from on-going competitive procurements that attract multiple vendors, and
respond quickly to emerging trends by incorporating the latest technology with their current systems.

The Coalition for Smart Competition was originally formed by four transit industry suppliers in June 2003. These suppliers include:

ASCOM
ERG Transit Systems (USA) Inc.
Scheidt & Bachmann USA, Inc.
Thales e-Transactions CGA

Since then, numerous other suppliers and transit authorities have expressed interest in supporting the Coalition. Companies, agencies, and individuals who endorse these principles are encouraged to contact us at director@smartcompetition.org.
