The SMART Competition has modified its competition schedule. Even though there are no official competition beginning or ending dates for the competition, SMART has divided its judging calendar into two competition sessions per year.

•  Competition Session 1: December 1 – April 1
•  Competition Session 2: June 1 – October 15

Teams that plan to compete in Session 1 must complete the registration process on February 15th. Teams competing in Session 2 must complete the registration process by July 15th.

Each team will still have the flexibility to create their own project plan and team work schedule within the broad limits of the competition schedule.”, said Mark Schneider, one of the SMART Competition leadership team. “The two-competition session approach enables the global student population to plan the competition around their school calendar.”

The change will provide the opportunity for teams to be recognized several times for their achievements.

The Competition is an excellent educational program that compliments studies in sustainability, LEED design issues, and renewable power generation.

The SMART Competition (www.smartcompetition.org) is a global STEM and Career and Technology Education (CTE) education program. The competition is open to all high school and university students. The competition is designed to attract all students without regard or bias of gender, race, socio-economic or academic performance level.
